2008
We had booked travel arrangements from Beijing to Tibet and Mount Everest travelling across China on the world's highest elevation train but just weeks before our departure from Canada the Tibetans began a series of protests and demonstrations against the Chinese and the Chinese locked down the border. We had to scramble very quickly. We were holding air tickets that would get us half way around the world so we spun the globe and chose Thailand. We had spent some time many years previously in Bangkok (see the Bangkok Tab above), this time we would explore the southern island of Phuket. Too late to organize extensive travel in country we decided to opt for R&R! We booked two different resorts on the west coast.
